Amid the fast-paced rhythm of modern life, it should be no great surprise to almost anyone that anxiety has become a common and unwelcome companion for so many individuals in the UK.
As cited by the Mind charity, in any given week in England, approximately a fifth of people experience a common mental health problem, such as anxiety or depression.
With such anxiety-inducing factors as work pressures, financial uncertainties, and the constant hum of digital notifications being ever-present in our lives, it is understandable that people up and down the country are seeking out ways to find calm amid the storm.
While not all approaches that a given individual may take will necessarily be entirely healthy, one powerful combination that has gained traction and admiration over recent years, is the use of wellness boxes combined with mindfulness meditation.
When an optimal blend is achieved between mindfulness meditation for anxiety disorders and a well-chosen wellness box or two, it can serve as a practical and nurturing way to soothe the mind and restore balance.
Below, then, our team here at EOS BOX takes a closer look at how you may potentially harness this duo to give yourself – or a special person in your life – much-needed relief from anxiety.
What Are Wellness Boxes?
A wellness box is a curated collection of items intended to promote the recipient’s mental and physical wellbeing.
Wellness boxes can conceivably include any of a broad range of self-care items, encompassing the likes of bath bombs, tea light candles, wax melts, mugs, coasters, books, and accessory bags, to cite just some possibilities.
Although we are proud here at EOS BOX to make available a variety of already-prepared wellness boxes, we also give interested customers the option to build their own gift box.
Taking advantage of our “build your own box” service can enable the customer to ensure the final box is “just right” in every respect, whether they are purchasing for themselves or a certain other special someone.
The Power of Mindfulness Meditation
Rooted in ancient Buddhist practices but adapted for modern life, mindfulness meditation is the practice of focusing on the present moment with non-judgmental awareness.
The emphasis of mindfulness meditation for anxiety disorders is very much on accepting what arises – including bodily sensations, thoughts, and feelings – to help the meditator distance themselves from anxious patterns. This, in turn, will help them create clarity and calm.
Multiple meta-analyses have shown that mindfulness-based interventions can be effective at reducing anxiety symptoms. Such interventions work by helping individuals to become aware of negative thoughts and return to the present moment.
Mindfulness meditation, then, can assist the meditator in fostering conscious responses to experiences, instead of simply defaulting to automatic reactions.
Why Does the Combination of Wellness Boxes and Mindfulness Meditation Work So Well?
A lot of power is contained in the well-judged use of mindfulness meditation for anxiety disorders. However, the experience can be enhanced further when wellness boxes are brought into the equation to serve as sensory tools.
The pairing of wellness boxes and mindfulness meditation can therefore create a multidimensional approach that engages the mind as well as the body.
Here are a few reasons why the combination works so well:
-
Sensory Engagement Enhances Focus
Anxiety often pulls the sufferer into cycles of overthinking. A wellness box, however, can provide tactile and sensory elements to help the individual feel anchored in the present moment. This can make it easier for the person with anxiety to remain focused during meditation.
-
Creating A Ritual for Calm
Pairing a wellness box with meditation can set into motion a soothing ritual. For example, lighting a candle from the box, followed by sipping a warm beverage from a mug that may also be included, prior to a 10-minute mindfulness session, helps signal to the brain it’s time to unwind. Over time, this ritual can become embedded as a powerful cue for relaxation.
-
Personalised Self-Care
As we touched on above, we offer a “build your own box” facility here at EOS BOX. This feature gives our customers a means of putting together a wellness box that resonates with the recipient’s interests and preferences. It can help ensure the box complements the given individual’s mindfulness practice by encouraging self-compassion and intentionality.
An Appealing Duo for Those Who Seek a Holistic Solution for Anxiety
In a world that can frequently feel overwhelming, the pairing of wellness boxes with mindful meditation offers a practical and accessible way to find peace. It allows for the cultivation of a ritual that engages the senses and quietens the mind, as part of a sustainable practice for the management of anxiety and the nurturing of all-round mental health.
So, why not give it a try? Treat yourself or a loved one to a thoughtful wellness box, to help the deserving recipient – or you – achieve a calmer and more centred state of mind.
A Letter from G:
I want to share a little story about how I got to a better place with my stress, because it’s why I created the boxes in the first place. A while back, I was running on empty and my mind was everywhere. I wanted to try to figure out what things worked for me to feel more calm. Then I started leaning into specific acts that changed everything for me. Lighting a candle with a relaxing scent became my signal to slow down, it was like flicking a switch to calm my racing thoughts. Soaking in a bath with relaxing bath salts? It turned into my go-to for melting away tension after a long day. And slipping on a face mask felt like giving myself permission to just be for a bit. Those little rituals forced me to carve out time for myself, and bit by bit, they helped me find some peace in the chaos.
I also was really struggling to fall asleep, I would spend hours tossing and turning at night and being so tired in the morning. This is why I added meditation to my routine and it was a total game changer. I started doing it once before bed to let go of all the noise. Then I started adding it in the mornings to clear my head and set me up to tackle the day. It’s helped me sleep so much better, like I’m actually resting instead of tossing and turning now. Plus, I’m making decisions with a clearer head, not just reacting on impulse. Those moments of breathing and focusing made me feel like I could handle whatever came my way.
That’s why I've created different wellness boxes, to share these tools that pulled me out of the stress spiral. I've packed some of them with the candles, bath salts, and face masks that worked for me, hoping they’ll help you find your calm too, alongside a little nudge to try meditation. Trust me, it’s worth it!
Love G xx
